IFB’S Graeme Gordon among keynote speakers at one of world’s biggest business festivals
The boss of North-east firm Internet For Business will put creative IT firmly in the spotlight at one of the biggest business events in the UK.
Graeme Gordon is one of the keynote speakers at this year’s International Festival of Business which launched in Liverpool this week (June 13).
The critical part that smart connectivity and data management plays in moving forward with technology developments like the Internet of Things and the Industrial Internet of Things will be the theme of Mr Gordon’s presentation.
He will place the focus on innovation and benefits of the Internet of Things and how this can only be enabled by smart connectivity and data management, discussing all stages of the lifecycle, from data source to data storage.
Mr Gordon, chief executive officer of IFB will share a platform with Arun Shenoy of Schneider Electric's IT and Data Center (UK & Ireland), at the festival which is hosting 30,000 delegates from 100 countries over three weeks, providing entrepreneurs, investors, manufacturers, business leaders and suppliers unrivalled opportunity to do deals.
Mr Gordon says: “We’re seeing the Internet of Things (IoT) at use in light bulbs, home security and traffic lights but this is really just the start. Britain is at the forefront of the IoT industry, and it as well as having many uses in the home setting it offers huge potential to business.
“The Future of Your Connected Life will provide a forum for discussing key technology developments and expansion of data connectivity, including the Internet of Things and also the Industrial Internet of Things.
“The theme will cover the innovation and benefits of the Internet of Things and the fact that this can only be enabled by smart connectivity and data management. We’ll look at all stages of the lifecycle, from data source to data storage.”
Mr Gordon will lead a panel session to simulate audience participation and will be available for one-to-one conversations with attendees at the festival on June 27.
Mr Gordon has been with Internet For Business since its start in 1996, and CEO since 2013, leading it through key and innovative projects. IFB provide a range of resilient business connectivity services and is a partner in Aberdeen Core, the new state-of-the-art pure fibre network transforming Aberdeen into Scotland’s first Gigabit City. The company works across education, industry and government to improve the understanding, use of and benefits from digital services.
The International Festival for Business 2016 continues until July 1. Delivered by Liverpool Vision in partnership with UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) and the GREAT Britain campaign, and with the support of the UK Government, the festival was held for the first time in 2014. This year its economic value is expected to be £265m.
Its elite panel of speakers Nobel Peace Prize-winner FW de Klerk, WPP founder Sir Martin Sorrell and secretary of state for business Sajid Javid.
