Football fans from across the North-east are being invited to wear their club’s colours with pride at a special business networking event in Aberdeen.
The Copthorne Hotel on Huntly Street is expected to play host to more than 50 business people as part of the latest event organised by business development and networking specialist Aberdeen Business Network (ABN).
The event, which is being sponsored by accountants and tax advisors Fyfe Moir & Associates, will be held on Tuesday, August 4 between 4pm and 6pm. Delegates are being encouraged to attend wearing a football top of their choosing, while there will also be a fundraising penalty shoot-out competition.
Money raised will benefit the Aberdeen Football Club Community Trust (AFCCT) through the Stand Free Youth Development initiative, run by Fyfe Moir & Associates.
Andrew Smith, director at ABN, hails from Montrose and will be wearing the blue of the Gable Endies. He said: “We’re thoroughly looking forward to the big kick off; it’s certainly a bit of a departure from the usual suit and tie approach but all for a very worthwhile cause.
“I’m looking forward to meeting a mix of new and familiar faces – all kitted out in their respective club’s colours, whatever those may be.
“While it’s meant as a bit of fun it’s also a valuable opportunity to develop important business skills and relationships with people from across the city in a friendly and welcoming environment at the same time as the football season gets into full swing.”
Alan Moir, director at Fyfe Moir & Associates, said: “We’re very much looking forward to what promises to be a fantastic event in support of the Stand Free Youth Development initiative. It will be a unique opportunity to see a wide cross-section of the business community come together to show their colours in a fun atmosphere.”
Established in 2011, the Stand Free Youth Development initiative aims to support Aberdeen FC’s youth policy. Led by a group of city businessmen including Alan Moir and Graham Fyfe, it has organised various fundraising events including a dinner attended by Gothenburg Greats and a sports quiz, helping to raise more than £100,000 to date.
Places are available for £39 (plus VAT) per person. For further information, including details on how to book your place, visit the events page on www.abncomunity.com
