Clothing chain Next is continuing its shopping haul of rival fashion chains by moving close to acquiring FatFace.

The deal, reportedly worth more than £100million, could be announced later this week.

Family-focused retailer FatFace has more than 200 UK stores, including a presence in Union Square.

It's set to become the latest brand to be bought by Next since the pandemic, who're effectively now the UK's most frequent acquirer of smaller retail brands, taking over Mike Ashley's Frasers Group.

Next acquired online furniture retailer Made.com after it crashed into administration post-pandemic.

Cath Kidson was also snapped up after facing financial difficulties, as was maternity wear retailer JoJo Maman Bebe.

Partnerships have also been struck with Victoria's Secret and Gap.

Next, which has recently increased profits, has a market value of £8.75billion.
