Restaurant owner Steve Bothwell has lost his legal battle to stop Aberdeen City Council demolishing his outdoor terrace.
The local authority has been granted a warrant to knock down Cafe 52’s outdoor terrace in The Green despite the owner’s months-long battle to save it.
The council says the area is needed to allow machinery in to build the city’s new £40million indoor market yards away.
Mr Bothwell refused to remove the terrace by the May 31 deadline set by the council, and started a crowdfunder to cover the cost of his legal bills as he battled to save it, raising £11,500 to the cause.
However, at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday, the council has now been granted legal permission to gain entry and tear it down.
