setec, a multidisciplinary engineering group, announces the acquisition of a majority stake in Sealand Projects, a UK engineering company founded in 2007 by two engineers, Miles Jones and Nigel Danhash.

This strategic acquisition strengthens setec's position and ambition in the offshore wind and marine engineering sector.

This acquisition will allow setec not only to expand its service portfolio and offer its customers robust and proven solutions in the maritime sector, but also to strengthen its presence in the United Kingdom and Northern European market.

Sealand Projects has a solid base of high value-added expertise that is intended to meet the challenges of all maritime structures and activities, in particular in the field of marine renewable energies: feasibility and design, supervision of installation and transport systems, anchoring and mooring systems, logistics and maintenance.

Headquartered in Aberdeen and Glasgow and led by Graeme MacDougall, the company has a blend of 50 employees and consultants, ensuring flexibility and specialised expertise, who provide research, consulting and project management services in the UK and internationally. Involved in research and development activities, Sealand Projects also offers optimisation and decarbonisation solutions to its industrial customers, maritime transport or port infrastructure players.

Graeme MacDougall, managing director of Sealand Projects, said: "After more than a decade of contributing to the development of Sealand Projects, I am pleased to announce that the setec Group has officially acquired Sealand Projects.

"We are proud that setec has recognised our unique skills and expertise in marine energy projects, and delighted to join this group which will allow us to write the next chapter of our development.”

The setec group, which is committed to the offshore wind sector with the creation of its subsidiary setec offshore wind in 2024, will be able to offer, thanks to the acquisition of Sealand Projects, a wide range of skills and services for developers, energy companies, industrialists, port and network operators.

The group, which created the subsidiary Setec Consulting Engineers Ltd (SCEL) in England in 2017, is also extending its capacities in the United Kingdom beyond the field of carbon-free energy (Hinkley Point C and Sizewell) and transportation (HS2), and is settling in Scotland.

Michel Kahan, president of the setec Group, said: "The United Kingdom is a pioneer in the deployment of floating wind on a large scale, particularly in Scotland.

"The advances and lessons learned from this market will be rich for many projects and for many countries involved in offshore wind. We are thrilled to get involved and to implement marine engineering, transport and installation solutions designed by our engineers, while contributing to the national and European objectives of decarbonising the energy mix.

"We are delighted to welcome our colleagues from Sealand Projects and wish them all the best in the setec ecosystem."
