Xcite Media, the company behind the annual north-east Trades Awards, is once again on the search for the region’s most talented tradespeople and businesses.
The company is to host its launch event on Thursday, January 28 2016, from 6-7.30pm at Trinity Hall in Aberdeen. With an aim of highlighting the benefits of taking part to business of all sizes and disciplines from within the construction industry, the launch is being held at the home of the Seven Incorporated Trades of Aberdeen, in association with main event sponsor, the Stewart Milne Group.
Trades Awards is now entering its fourth year, and was designed to showcase the knowledge, experience and integrity of the region’s skilled workers, as well as the passion and commitment of the many apprentices who are entering the industry at an exciting time.
Previous award winners included Liam Bruce, of Scotia Homes who won ‘Apprentice of the Year’, Norman Anderson, a stonemason for Peterkin Homes who won ‘Tradesman of the Year’, and Jane Bruce, who won the ‘Outstanding Contribution’ award, for the determination, passion and hard work shown when, due to changes in circumstance, Jane left her job as a teacher to run the family building company, John G. Baird Ltd.
Darren Ross, director at Xcite Media comments: “Our awards have gained significant industry recognition since their launch in January 2013, and with the continued support of Stewart Milne Group are now a firm fixture in the local events calendar, whilst continuing to be the only event of its kind in Scotland.”
“The event highlights the outstanding work that goes on in the region, and every year we are overwhelmed by stories of excellence from individuals and businesses who are a credit to the industry, and who continue to demonstrate wide range of exciting careers and opportunities available within the north-east construction industry.”
Neil Thomson, construction director at Stewart Milne Homes North says: “Construction is a hugely exciting and dynamic industry to be in and Aberdeen and the North has some of the most highly skilled workers in the UK. It’s important that we reward and recognise their hard work and commitment, both to motivate them to help the industry flourish and to attract new, up and coming talent into the trade. I’m looking forward to hearing about some of the wonderful success stories the Trade Awards discovers.”
Ian MacIntosh, Deacon of the Fleshers from the Seven Incorporated Trades of Aberdeen adds: “Trinity Hall has a long standing tradition of supporting local trades business and encouraging trades education and development, and we are delighted to host the official launch of Trades Awards for a second year. We encourage all trades businesses to get behind this event, and look forward to welcoming individuals from across the industry to our venue.”
