Hannah Ross has been appointed chief executive of Scottish Rail Holdings (SRH).
Hannah will lead SRH, which was set up and is owned by the Scottish Government. It has
responsibility for the ownership and oversight of both ScotRail and Caledonian
Sleeper, following their transfer into public ownership in April 2022 and June
2023 respectively.
Hannah, who is currently head of major projects at City of
Edinburgh Council, will officially take on her new role on September 30, 2024.
In addition to her role as chief executive of SRH, Hannah will also chair the
boards of ScotRail and Caledonian Sleeper.
A lawyer by background, Hannah brings a wealth of experience to
the role, having successfully led a number of major projects.
Most recently, Hannah worked closely with Edinburgh’s public transport companies, collaborating on policy, delivery, and governance, and has been a pivotal figure in the success of the Trams to Newhaven project amongst other essential projects. Hannah was recognised for this work with an ‘outstanding contribution to transport’ award at the Scottish Transport Awards last month.
Richard Cairns, chairperson of Scottish Rail Holdings said: "From the outset of the recruitment process, it was clear that Hannah has the knowledge, experience, and leadership skills and was the outstanding candidate for this role.
"Her focus on how best to deliver for passengers is something that impressed me and will be vital in helping to deliver for SRH and ScotRail."
