Scottish Home Show supports small businesses with 2015 competition

The Scottish Home Show is lending support to new small businesses associated with the home improvement and garden sectors.

A competition was announced yesterday (Aug 6) for the chance to showcase their products or services for free at this year’s show – one of the largest home improvement exhibitions in Scotland.

In partnership with Federation of Small Businesses, the Aberdeen and Inverness Chambers of Commerce, and Elevator UK, the competition invites small businesses, with relevant services or products to the exhibition, to submit a proposed stand design for the chance to win a 3x2m shell scheme stand and power supply. This year’s show, which also welcomes back main event sponsor and premium developer, Dandara, takes place at the AECC from September 25-27.

The lucky competition winner, who’s business must have been trading for 18 months or less at the time of the exhibition, will showcase themselves alongside some of the UK’s biggest home and gardening brands, as well as this year’s celebrity experts – Linda Barker, Charlie Dimmock and Tommy Walsh.

Isla Stewart, business development manager for Xcite Media, the company behind The Scottish Home Show, comments: “The cost of exhibiting at industry events can be much too expensive for many small businesses, students or sole traders, especially when that company is a new start-up. We are always amazed at what some of these businesses have on offer, so it only felt right that we would again provide them with an ideal opportunity to gain access to their target market, following the success of a similar competition last year.

“Confirmed exhibitors already include household names such as AGA, Bang & Olufsen, Costco, Treehouse and Baxters Food Group, with many more signing up daily. All celebrities will also be hosting a selection of fantastic demonstrations throughout the weekend, providing top tips that you can do yourself at home.

“With such exciting things going on at this year’s show, there’s no reason not to give our competition a try.”

Potential stand designs visuals/artist impressions must be emailed by Friday, August 28, 2015 to isla@xcitemedia.com. Stand specifications can be found at www.scottishhomeshow.com. An independent panel of judges will assess all entries, with a winner to be announced on Wednesday September 3 2015, giving winners three weeks to create their stand. Stands must be built between 8am and 8pm on Thursday September 24 2015.
