Organisers of the Scottish Home Show, Xcite Media, have today (Monday, September 28) raised a toast to their fourth exhibition, having attracted thousands of visitors through the doors of the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre across the weekend.
With 215 exhibitors, the home and garden show was the largest hosted to date by the team and attracted the support of premium developer Dandara as main event sponsor. From groundbreaking new technology, tools, garden designs and conservatories, to the latest home interiors, bathrooms and kitchens being showcased, the large number of visitors dictate that there is still a high demand for the home improvements market in the Northeast.
Highlights of the weekend included an original piece of Banksy art, which featured on the Enid Hutt Gallery stand, with a cool price tag of £100,000, and a ‘floating bed’ from Levitas Design.
As well as special guest appearances from celebrity interior designer Linda Barker, builder Tommy Walsh and TV gardening guru Charlie Dimmock, visitors also enjoyed a host of live cookery and DIY demonstrations throughout the three days. Brand names such as Bang and Olufsen, Clive Christian, DM Design, Scotframe, Bagno Design, Levitas, Ben Reid Garden Centre, Treehouse and Daffy's Gin also proved popular.
Darren Ross, director of event organisers Xcite Media Ltd, comments: “We couldn’t be more proud to have welcomed all of our visitors to this year’s show. We have worked really hard to develop our best ever line-up and the support we’ve had on the run up to and during the show has been overwhelming.
“The popularity of the home, garden and lifestyle markets are evidently continuing to blossom, with a particular demand for tips and techniques which help people up-cycle old goods and spruce up their home on a budget. While some might be taking more time to consider investment buys, there is still definitely a demand for the more luxury, high-end products also.
“Our ability to present such a diverse show has meant that there really is something for everyone to enjoy throughout the weekend and our feedback so far this year is reflecting this. Having spoken with the majority of our exhibitors, many of them have already signed up again for next year, and we have also taken some enquiries from companies that have not yet had a presence at the show.
“We couldn’t run the show without the hard work, dedication and support we receive from our staff, the AECC, the chamber and all of our exhibitors and sponsors. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their efforts in delivering such a great fourth show and we look forward to planning the Scottish Home Show 2016.”
Peter Best, sales manager at Dandara in Aberdeen, said: “The show’s been another great success, with a huge turnout and great interest in our developments across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. With so many locally-based businesses exhibiting at the show, it was also great to see some examples of the creativity in homes and gardens which is thriving in the region.”
The Scottish Home Show also raised money over the weekend for the Aberdeen FC Community Trust (AFCCT), a recently established standalone charitable organisation and partner of Aberdeen Football Club, that will enable relevant community activities to significantly expand within the city and throughout the North-east of Scotland.
