Companies working with Scottish Enterprise through its account management service generated combined turnover growth of £1.3billion in the last financial year.
Overall there was growth across the account managed companies which submitted turnover statistics to Scottish Enterprise, with strong growth in sectors such as Technologies & Engineering and Financial & Businesses Services.
Welcoming the news Deputy First Minister John Swinney said:
‪“Scottish Enterprise’s latest figures demonstrate welcome progress to grow Scotland’s economy. I am delighted to see that account managed companies in key industries such as Technologies & Engineering and Financial & Business Services have recorded strong growth this year and that the Enabling Technologies and ICT sector is predicted to perform strongly in 2016 in terms of international growth. The Scottish Government is working closely with Scottish Enterprise and other agencies to support companies to expand, connect with new and emerging markets, and to retain Scotland’s position as the best place to do business.”

“Companies tell us that our account management service is helping them to grow and expand, so it’s no surprise that we’re seeing such positive figures around turnover growth.
“We work intensively with these companies because we know that’s what generates the greatest economic impact for Scotland. These are ambitious companies who have clearly shown that by innovating, investing in their future and searching out new opportunities in international markets, they can grow their operations and create jobs.”
In terms of predicted growth over the current 2015-16 period, companies in the Enabling Technologies & ICT sector are predicting the most significant increases. The sector is also predicted to perform strongly in 2016 in terms of international turnover growth.
Scottish Enterprise works with businesses from across Scotland through its account management service, where an account manager works intensively with a company’s management team to understand key challenges facing the business and identify new growth opportunities to pursue.
The account manager ensures support is tailored to each company’s specific needs by engaging an account team of specialists from across Scottish Enterprise, Scottish Development International and partner organisations, to help companies address specific issues such as exporting, innovation, business efficiency and leadership.
