Scotland Collected

Art Exhibition at the Tivoli Theatre by Howard Butterworth

Howard recently enjoyed the Eric Auld Exhibition that was chosen by Eric’s family and was delighted to see some early and previously unseen work. A particular favourite on display was a small bright sunset.

After the success of his “Recollection” exhibition in 2013 and his continuing friendship with Brian Hendry, owner and rescuer of the Tivoli theatre, Howard agreed to revisit with a collection of a new and old originals, and for the first time some prints.

“Scotland Collected” features new images of Aberdeenshire such as Glen Muick, Clochnaben and Poldullie Bridge, alongside some of Howard Butterworth's older iconic images. A small selection of his prints will also be on show.

The exhibition also includes “The Artist’s Garden” which he was inspired to create whilst painting his anchor for the Friends of ANCHOR #20for20 Voyage. The idea was drawn from the gardens at his home in Glen Muick and the June Borders of Crathes Castle, “The Artist’s Garden” and the associated anchor are a tribute to those beautiful spaces that inspire, lift spirits, provide tranquillity and hold precious memories. This large acrylic painting is unusually priced at £2020, with 20% of its price going towards the Voyage, which is part of the Dream Big Campaign hoping to raise £1 million to see Aberdeen become a centre for world-class cancer research.

Generously sponsored by John Clark Motor Group, his anchor 'The artist's garden' can be found in Rubislaw Gardens and it is dedicated to his wife Hilary and the support of Anchor.

The exhibition in bar area will be open from Wednesday, September 13 to Sunday, September 24. Howard will be there 11–3pm most days to welcome you and answer any of your questions. Those that know him will know that he can chat passionately about most things especially cars!

Entry to the Tivoli Theatre is £2 or £1 Concession. Payment is made as you enter via the Box Office
