Aberdeen-based Schoolhill Engineering, a leader in hydraulic engineering since 1950, recently marked its 75th anniversary with a celebratory social night at The Atrium Restaurant.
The event celebrated the company’s significant milestone and recognized the dedication of several retiring and long-serving employees.
Managing director Ronald Whyte paid special tribute to Alan Stewart, who retires at age 77 after an incredible 58 years of service. Alan, the company’s longest-serving employee since the retirement of founder Robert Whyte, has been a cornerstone of Schoolhill’s success. Also recognised was Bill Fairweather, retiring at 68 after contributing to the company part-time in recent years.
The evening highlighted the loyalty of other employees, including Allan Davidson, Workshop Supervisor, who has been with the company for 34 years. Arlene Clark was celebrated for 20 years of service, while David Whyte (16 years), Sheena Wood (11 years), and Charlene Fraser, Colin Gray, and George Stuart (each with 10 years) were also acknowledged. Remarkably, George Stuart’s father also worked for Schoolhill for 37 years, creating a legacy of loyalty within the company.
Founded in 1950 and based in East Tullos Industrial Estate, Schoolhill Engineering has built a reputation for innovation and reliability in sectors like oil and gas, subsea, decom and whisky barrel working. With 33 employees currently, the company plans to recruit new talent in early 2025 as it continues its commitment to excellence in hydraulic engineering.
“We’re proud to celebrate both our 75th year and the incredible dedication of our team,” said managing director Ronald Whyte. “Our employees are the backbone of our success, and we look forward to building on this legacy for years to come.”
