School receives top marks for high quality experiences and innovation

Inspectors praised happiness, high quality experiences, pride and how the school\'s vision is evident with a strong leadership for learning across Robert Gordon’s College.

The praise is following a visit by Her Majesty’s Inspectors of Education from Education Scotland during a Quality Improvement and Professional Engagement (QUIPE) in April.

The HM Inspectors from Education Scotland met with pupils (Nursery through to S6), parents and staff, and considered a very wide range of evidence, including surveys, lesson observations and internal documentation. All these sources were triangulated into a report which confirms that the school is operating at a very high level, offering extensive opportunities for all pupils.

Professor Jimmy Hutchison, Chair of Governors said: “I am delighted to share the findings underlined the key strengths of high quality teaching and learning that are in place at Robert Gordon’s College. This has been an important process of external analysis, observation and validation, confirming the very high standards in place at the College. I am encouraged by the strong external endorsement of the high standards of work that is going on with all age ranges at Robert Gordon’s College.”

Simon Mills, Head of College added: “During the QUIPE visit the Inspectors were very positive about the quality of staff and teamwork, where they found ‘high levels of commitment to the school’. Additionally, the QUIPE team ‘identified aspects of innovative practice in the expressive arts and in learning and teaching in the junior school’ which they would like to explore further and share more widely within Scotland. This is extremely positive as the identification of one sector leading area of practice is unusual, but to have two identified is rare and most encouraging.”
