Mike Loggie, chief executive of Saltire Energy, the leading supplier of drilling tools to the offshore oil and gas industry, received a top award at the UK EY Entrepreneur of the Year Awards 2015 in London last night (Monday 5 October).
Mr Loggie was one of 13 UK business leaders to win an accolade at the prestigious black tie ceremony in recognition of their achievements in building and growing successful and dynamic businesses. This comes after Mr Loggie was named overall winner of the EY Scotland Entrepreneur of the Year Awards 2015 in June, chosen from a group of 25 entrepreneurs from across Scotland.
Commenting on the award win, Mr Loggie said: “Winning the Entrepreneur of the Year for Scotland 2015 was a great achievement for me, and I am incredibly honoured to have been awarded a UK EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award in the final round. To have been nominated alongside such highly respected and successful business leaders is hugely gratifying, and I am delighted that my leadership of Saltire Energy has been recognised by such a prestigious award.”
A leading business and philanthropic figure in the Aberdeen community, Mike Loggie established Saltire Energy in 1986. He has since grown the company into a group of three highly successful subsidiaries comprising Saltire Energy, Saltire Pressure Control and Saltire Drilling Tools. In recent months the company has experienced rapid international growth with an increased presence in Australia, Africa, Europe, the Middle East and the Far East as a result of client demand.
Mr Loggie continued: “I am thrilled that Saltire Energy has been recognised as a true success story, and this is all down to my team who have supported me in growing the business to the international service company it is today. I am thrilled with this achievement, and I would like to congratulate all of the winners and finalists from the night.”
Mr Loggie was commended by the judges for his hands-on approach and robust business strategy, which enabled his business to continue growing during the downturn in the oil and gas sector. The panel was equally impressed with his company’s exceptional customer service and Mr Loggie’s “passionate commitment and determination to give something back.”
Earlier this year, Saltire Energy was named one of the 1,000 most inspiring companies in the UK by the London Stock Exchange, which followed its listings on The Sunday Times Fast Track 100 Ones to Watch and The Sunday Times Profit Track 100 league tables in 2014.
