Alex Salmond's family are considering a public celebration of his life following his funeral in the North-east next week.
The friends and family of the former First Minister are said to be thinking about a public memorial on St Andrew's day or another winter holiday in Scotland.
A private ceremony for Mr Salmond is expected to take place on the week starting October 28, according to Kenny MacAskill, the interim leader of the Alba Party.
Mr Salmond's body was returned to Scotland on Friday following his sudden death in North Macedonia on October 12.
His body was met by his family and a piper at Aberdeen Airport.
According to Mr MacAskill, close friends and family have been touched by the public reception to a cortege, led by the Yes Bikers, on Friday.
“Moira was remarkably heartened by the turnout of people in the towns and villages on the route from the airport, on the streets, on the roads, and in lay-bys where they paid their respects,” he said.
St Andrews Day falls around a month after the expected funeral will take place and members of the Scottish Resistance have already invited the public to join them at a vigil for Salmond in Glasgow on November 30.
