Safety education charity Absafe has asked budding young artists to design its new mascot.
The competition is calling for children in Aberdeen city and shire to submit designs for a new character with a safety theme. The new mascot will represent the Bridge of Don charity at community events, corporate days and will even make an appearance during school visits.
Absafe is the North-east of Scotland’s only charity that’s dedicated to safety education and risk awareness as it teaches the fundamentals of personal safety including fire safety, road safety, internet safety and cybersecurity.
The competition is sponsored by Richard Irvin Energy Solutions, and is open from pupils in primaries one to six. The winning artist and their classmates will be invited to Absafe to see their design come to life after the summer break.
The winner will be selected by the Absafe team and a representative from Richard Irvin Energy Solutions.
Laura McIntyre, Absafe’s marketing and corporate relations manager said: “We need a new mascot to represent us. We’re all about the prevention of accidents before they happen, so our new mascot has to help us spread the word about keeping safe.
“Our new character could be anything from a safety superhero, animal or even a young boy or girl. We’re looking forward to seeing some bold and exciting designs and can’t wait to choose Absafe’s newest member of the team.”
All schools in the Aberdeen city and shire have been provided with competition instructions and entry forms. It costs £1 to enter, with funds raised going to Absafe.
The competition closes on Friday June 23, with the winning design announced on Wednesday June 28.
