A number of events, activities and freebie giveaways are being held across the city for Robert Gordon University (RGU) students this week.
RGU’s Students’ Union (RGU:Union) is organising a raft of activities for Refreshers’ Week which runs from Monday, February 1 to Friday, February 5 to welcome new and returning students to university for the new semester.
Kicking off the week is the annual Big Student Pub Quiz on Monday, February 1 at Campus Aberdeen which will be testing the general knowledge of students from 9pm.
Among the other key events taking place is the Refreshers’ Fayre on Thursday, February 4, which promises to be the week’s main highlight, providing students with a chance to meet with RGU:Union, societies and sports clubs, as well as find out about volunteering opportunities while bagging the many free giveaways on offer.
Another headline for the week will be a live music gig hosted by RGU: Radio at Downstairs on Holburn Street on Thursday, February 4 from 7pm, where RGU’s student led radio station will introduce an exciting line up of local talent.
A number of sports clubs and student society taster sessions are also taking place on campus throughout the week for students to sample what’s on offer at RGU.
Edward Pollock, Student President for Communication and Democracy, said: “Most of our students have spent January studying hard for exams or meeting coursework deadlines so we’ve organised a line-up of events to welcome them back to university for their second semester.
“There are also a number of new students starting at RGU this month so the week is also an opportunity for RGU:Union to showcase its services and highlight what is on offer to a new audience.
“RGU:Union is here to encourage students to make the most of their time at university so offering something to suit everyone is really key to the student experience.”
