A distinguished Pharmacy professor at Robert Gordon University (RGU) has been elected to a prestigious role as part of the annual Royal Pharmaceutical Society Conference.
Professor Derek Stewart from RGU’s School of Pharmacy and Life Sciences has been elected to the position of Vice Chair of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society Conference Practice Research Panel for 2017 and will progress automatically to the position of Chair for 2018.
The Panel’s remit is to deliver a high quality, innovative and interesting research stream each year at the event, incorporating appropriate review and selection of submitted abstracts.
The Panel includes researchers from a range of scientific backgrounds who together cover the major areas of pharmacy practice. It is appointed by the Officers of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society on the recommendation of serving panel members.
The Practice Research Vice-Chair and Chair are drawn from this panel, with the Chair delivering the Practice Research plenary presentation at the conference.
Professor Stewart, who has been a member of the panel since 2013, said: “I am honoured and delighted to have been elected to these positions, which will provide an opportunity to showcase further RGU pharmacy practice research.”
In 2011, Professor Stewart was awarded the Pharmacy Practice Research UK Award at the conference for his outstanding contribution to pharmacy practice research. He has published more than 110 peer reviewed papers and has just supervised his fifteenth doctoral student to completion.
