Robert Gordon University (RGU) is expanding its international focus as it invests in Asia.
The university has announced the opening of offices in China and Malaysia to increase its presence in Asia as it looks to build on relations and student recruitment across the continent.
The offices in Beijing and Kuala Lumpur will help RGU build strong links with universities, partners, businesses and alumni in Asia and will be responsible for marketing the university to prospective international students in the region.
The offices, which are based in the central business areas of Beijing and Kuala Lumpur, employ staff which will support RGU’s partners in Asia, work with universities, attend education exhibitions, meet with prospective students and connect with alumni across the region.
RGU’s Principal, Professor Ferdinand von Prondzynski, who travelled to China to officially open the university’s Beijing office last week, said: “Overseas links are very important to the university and we are committed to expanding our international focus.
“Our new offices in China and Malaysia will help us form a strategic presence in Asia which offers fantastic opportunities for partnerships and collaboration as well as new markets for student recruitment.”
The offices will also provide the university with a base to connect with its international alumni who have returned home or who have relocated to the region after graduating.
Professor von Prondzynski, who attended an alumni engagement event during his trip to China which attracted over 100 international graduates, adds: “We have a large international alumni community which we hugely value so a key function of our new offices will be to increase our engagement with our graduates across Asia.
“We are very much looking forward to strengthening our relations in Asia where a wide range of our course offerings prove popular from business, architecture and engineering to occupational therapy and pharmacy.”
