RGU has teamed up with an Aberdeen City Councillor to strengthen links with Pakistan

A Robert Gordon University (RGU) academic has teamed up with an Aberdeen councillor to connect with former students in Pakistan.

Dr Farooq Ahmad, a lecturer in the Department of Accounting and Finance at RGU’s Aberdeen Business School, and Aberdeen City Councillor Tauqeer Malik, who represents the Lower Deeside area, will be attending education fairs and hosting alumni events during their visit.

They will be attending the Dawn Education Expo, which is an annually based education fair and festival held in three of the largest cities of Pakistan.

Dr Ahmad said: “Robert Gordon University provides excellent learning opportunities to international students in the beautiful city of Aberdeen.

“I am in touch with many bright students from Pakistan who choose RGU for their courses and are performing very well in their careers globally.

“I shall be pleased to meet and advise the most suited courses available at Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen.”

The DAWN Education Expo is held in Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi in consecutive two-day slots which gives college and university representatives the opportunity to meet some of the brightest students from the country's most progressive and prestigious schools.

Dr Ahmad and Cllr Malik will have a stand at the expo on February 9 and 10 at Felitti’s Hotel in Lahore; February 13 and 14 at the Jinnah Convention Centre in Islamabad.

They will hold receptions with informal networking for RGU Alumni on Friday February 12 in the Islamabad Marriott Hotel at 8pm.

They will also be visiting some of our education agents as well as visiting Universities.
