RGU brings academic expertise to Florida

Robert Gordon University (RGU) is bringing its business expertise around the world to deliver a course in Florida as part of a new first-of-its-kind collaboration.

RGU’s Aberdeen Business School has partnered with Seminole State College of Florida to deliver its MSc in International Business in the US state.

This new collaboration will see the same Masters qualification which is currently taught at RGU’s Aberdeen campus taught in Florida by RGU academics.

The course can be studied part-time over one year, and will provide students with an up-to-date knowledge of international business management, including key theories and concepts and also the ability to apply a significant range of professional skills, practices and techniques in international business management.

Richard Barnes, head of global engagement at RGU’s Aberdeen Business School, said: “Aberdeen Business School is extremely proud of the international education we offer and we continue to grow our portfolio of new partners across Europe, America and beyond.

“This innovative and exciting collaboration with the Seminole State College of Florida is testament to our commitment to global engagement.”

Professor Rita Marcella, Dean of Aberdeen Business School, added: “We at Aberdeen Business School are delighted to be strengthening our links with America, and especially the Seminole State College of Florida to deliver our MSc in International Business.

“Our mission is to prepare the innovative leaders of the future with the capacity to anticipate and manage change in international business and the professional environment and we strive to achieve this through our teaching and research carried out in an international context and to the highest academic standards.

“Alongside this we continue to build on our strong links with the professional business community both nationally and internationally.”

Associate Dean of Aberdeen Business School Bob Gammie added: “This course is particularly suited for those who wish to enter higher level posts in the international business and management sector and several of our graduates have gone on to set up their own businesses.”

Similarly to RGU, Seminole State College of Florida provides degrees that lead to high-paying, high-demand jobs. They also provide career development services to help graduates make a smooth transition to worthwhile and rewarding career paths – successful graduate employment rates is something for which RGU is recognised world-wide.

AnneLiese Busch, director of the center for global engagement at Seminole State, said: “the objective of this agreement is to bring the global educational experience and make it local.

“This isn’t just another master’s degree programme. It’s a degree from an institution outside the United States that has a different perspective and curriculum than what you might find locally.”

Classes will be taught entirely by RGU staff on Seminole State’s Heathrow Campus with average class sizes of about 25 students.

Students wishing to study MSc International Business Management at Florida should apply via the Centre for Global Engagement at Seminole State College, Florida at https://www.seminolestate.edu/international-studies/
