At Robert Gordon’s College, sport is at the core of everything we do, and our exceptional coaches are instrumental in leading our new sports camps.
Taking place at the incomparable Countesswells Sports Field throughout spring and summer 2025, these camps offer the high-quality Robert Gordon’s experience in rugby, hockey, netball and football and are open to pupils from any school for the first time.
Designed to instill a love for sport, these camps take a game-based approach, where children can develop social skills and confidence in a fun, engaging environment. For pupils in P4-P7, the focus is on ‘learning through play’, ensuring an enjoyable experience that prioritises the process of learning rather than performance-driven outcomes. In contrast, our senior camps are tailored towards enhancing performance and skill development.
Mr Craig McLeod, director of sport, shared: “Camps are an integral part of our vision for sport at Robert Gordon’s College, and I’m delighted that we can now extend this opportunity to the wider North-East community. Children learn best when they are inspired and motivated. Through our sports camps we aim to achieve this by creating a fun and sociable environment through a game based approach.”

Mr Ross McNeil, head of football, said: “The RGC Easter and Summer football camps will be a fantastic experience for players in the North-east whether they are an RGC pupil or not. We will be following our game based curriculum to develop players’ technical abilities and tactical thinking. The camp will challenge beginners and experienced players alike whilst most importantly keeping them active and having fun.”
Miss Leanne MacIver, hockey and netball coach, highlighted: “I’m excited to watch the young hockey players showcasing their skills at our RGC Camp. During the camp, players will develop their ability on and off the ball through a variety of fun activities and challenges, as well as match play. I look forward to seeing the progress of all the participants.
“As the lead coach of our Netball Summer Camp, I am thrilled to welcome players of all abilities to a fun and exciting week of netball. This summer, we will focus on the technical elements of the game, position based work, and matches using engaging drills and skill focused activities. I can’t wait to see all players improve and enjoy a brilliant week of Netball!”
Mr Rory Riddle, rugby coach, added: “At our Easter and Summer Rugby Camps, children can expect an exciting and engaging experience where they’ll develop their rugby skills, build teamwork, and have lots of fun. We focus on creating a positive, supportive environment that encourages growth, confidence, and a love for the game. Whether they’re new to rugby or looking to refine their skills, they’ll leave with improved technique, lasting memories, and a real sense of accomplishment.”
