With some of the city’s best-known retailers already signed up for Shop Aberdeen, traders are being urged to grab a spot before entries close this Monday.
The weekend event, organised by Aberdeen Inspired, will see unique offers and discounts and even special events at a wide range of shops from Thursday, April 24, to Sunday, April 27.
Kate Timperley, project manager with Aberdeen Inspired, said a raft of retailers have already joined the roster for Shop Aberdeen and urged other businesses to make sure they don’t miss out.
“While we won’t be revealing the full list of participating shops until closer to the event, I can say that some of names already taking part include Juniper, Andrew Begg and Aberdeen Whisky Shop,” said Kate.
“That is just a taster of what is in store for customers when Shop Aberdeen arrives, bringing a sense of vibrancy and excitement to the city centre – as it did on the inaugural weekend last October.
“The last day for shops to sign up for this special weekend is this Monday (March 24) and I would hate for anyone to lose the opportunity Shop Aberdeen offers to raise their profile, boost their business and find new customers.
Andrew Begg said he was delighted his top-tier footwear store on Upperkirkgate would once be part of the event.
He said: “We are taking part in Shop Aberdeen again to encourage our customers – old and new – to explore the city centre’s retail businesses.
“We look forward to being part of their shopping plans – this time with all our spring and summer goodies in footwear and accessories on show.”
Outlets taking part in Shop Aberdeen range from fashion to health and beauty, sportswear to jewellery, local independents to high street names.
This includes the likes of New Look, McCall’s Highlandwear, Esslemonts, Boux Avenue, Decathlon, Gamola Golf, Copper & Grey and Duncan and Todd.
The final list will be revealed two weeks before the Shop Aberdeen event.
Adrian Watson, chief executive of Aberdeen Inspired, said: “The return of Shop Aberdeen has been driven not by us but by the retailers who found the first special weekend was a real boost for their business. Not only that, it helped bring many more people into the city centre where they were able to fall in love with shopping in person again.
“We hope Shop Aberdeen in April will deliver the same superb results, but also help people from across the city and shire build the habit of coming into the heart of Aberdeen to shop.
“This is far too good an opportunity for anyone to miss, and I hope as many retailers as possible will sign up before Monday.”
