The 2024/25 Relay for Life season is well underway, and the fantastic Relay for Life Peterhead committee is inviting new teams to join it this year for 24 hours of fun and fundraising at Lord Catto Park, Peterhead on July 5 and 6.
What is Relay for Life?
Relay For Life is an international movement of over 4million relayers taking part in 6,000 Relay For Life events across the globe.
It is a celebration of community fundraising and a chance to unite your friends, family and colleagues with one common goal, beating cancer. Together, we’ve raised over $6.9billion as a worldwide collective to beat cancer.
Entry to Relay For Life is free. Teams of friends, families and colleagues fundraise for world-leading cancer research, then we unite as a collective at an event to remember loved ones, honour everyone affected by cancer and celebrate the progress we’re making.
Relay for Life Peterhead is led by a committed group of volunteers, who raise funds on behalf of Cancer Research UK – these volunteer leaders are the backbone of the whole experience. They work all year round supporting each team’s fundraising and creating an unforgettable relay. Since relocating from Aberdeen to Peterhead in 2006, the Relay for Life Peterhead community has raised over £2.5million for Cancer Research UK.
On the day
During a Relay For Life event, you'll experience special moments that bring everyone together.
We honour our special guests who've lived through cancer as they begin the walk with their inspirational lap of honour. Teams take turns to walk for the duration of the 24 hour event, showing the power of community spirit to help beat cancer.
There will be a variety of games and music from local performers – there’s something for the whole family to enjoy, including Bongo Bingo, Peterhead’s Got Talent and many more fun activities from our fabulous entertainment team.
We hear about Cancer Research UK’s scientific breakthroughs and The Candle of Hope ceremony gives us a moment to reflect and honour everyone affected by cancer. Finally, The closing ceremony celebrates our progress and inspires us all to continue our efforts to beat cancer.
