Reform UK has overtaken the Conservative Party for the first time in a landmark poll.

A YouGov survey for The Times found that Reform's support has increased to 19%, while the Tories stood still on 18%.

Labour remain on course for a thumping at next month's election, polling at 37%.

The poll was carried out after the Conservative's released their party manifesto on Tuesday which pledged to cut £17bn of taxes for working people.

After the poll was released, Nigel Farage declared: "This is the inflection point. The only wasted vote now is a Conservative vote, we are the challengers to Labour and we are on our way," sentiments he echoed during a live TV debate last night.

While other polls show the Tories remain ahead of Reform, the gap has been closing for some time now.

Anthony Wells, head of European political and social research at YouGov, told The Times: "We can’t conclude for certain that more voters now back Nigel Farage’s party over the Conservatives but what it does make clear is that at the very least the Conservatives and Reform are at a very similar level of support to each other.

He added: "That in itself is remarkable given how close we are to an election when we might otherwise have expected smaller parties’ votes to be squeezed."

YouGov's online poll questioned more than 2,200 adults between Wednesday and Thursday.
