Ultra White Collar Boxing (UWCB) returns to Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) on Saturday November 26.
The UWCB experience takes individuals with no boxing background through an eight week training programme; before taking to the ring in front of a 2,600 strong crowd in AECC’s GE Oil & Gas Arena.
This year AECC is not only hosting the event, a member of the venue’s support team, Danny Thomson, is taking part!
Danny is one of 240 participants taking part in the charity event, which sees 120 fights taking place across three rings on the night. The event is part of a series aiming to raise £10million for Cancer Research UK.
The charity is close to Danny’s heart after losing his grandfather to the disease eight years ago, he commented: “I chose to take part in UWCB to do something positive and raise money in memory of my Granda. Having seen the event in action when it was at AECC in September, I knew it was something I wanted to be involved with; raising money for a good cause and getting fit at the same time!”
Graeme Cumming, interim managing director at AECC commented: “It is great that Danny is taking part in the second UWCB to be held at the venue; as a company, giving something back is important to us and we support our staff in their charitable work both through our charity of the year and through their pursuits out-with the workplace.”
