The masterpieces up for re-imaging are:
- A Social Eddy (or Left by the Tide) by Sir William Quiller Orchardson;
- The Tennis Party by Sir John Lavery;
- To Pastures New by Sir James Guthrie;
- Flood in the Highlands by Sir Edwin Landseer.
The images are available online to download so changes can be made digitally including animation or a copy can be printed off and a variety of mediums such as paint, inks or coloured pencils can be used to alter it.
Aberdeen City Council’s Deputy Leader Councillor Marie Boulton said: “This is a fun way for people of all ages to think about the city’s collections and get really creative with them while the art gallery is closed as part of its multi-million pound redevelopment. I’m looking forward to seeing how people change the artwork.”

The redevelopment project ‘Inspiring Art and Music’ will transform Aberdeen Art Gallery, Cowdray Hall and the Remembrance Hall in to a 21st century centre for art and music.
During the building work at Aberdeen Art Gallery and Cowdray Hall there will be a continuing programme of art and music at Aberdeen Maritime Museum and the Tolbooth Museum. Collections will also be seen at other venues in the city and shire and will go on loan to other organisations in the UK and abroad.
The construction of a Museums Collections Centre in the Northfield regeneration area is also under way which will allow art works and historical objects to be stored during the Aberdeen Art Gallery redevelopment project.
