Elevator and Business Gateway are partnering with Police Scotland for an event to highlight to Aberdeen City & Shire business owners and entrepreneurs how to protect themselves from serious organised crime.

The event is on Wednesday September 7, 1pm-3pm, at The Hub (Bridge of Don, Aberdeen). Gain a better understanding of the threat of crime both now and in the future.

This informative event is free to attend but spaces are limited so please call 01224 289725 to book.

Serious organised crime comes in many guises but is all about generating wealth at the expense of other people. It is about exploiting honest, law-abiding people, including the most vulnerable members of our communities, as well as companies, and can have a devastating impact on our citizens, communities, businesses and public services.

Serious Organised Crime Groups (SOCGs) are known to target legitimate businesses in a variety of ways, in order to further their own criminal gains. It is therefore, essential in order to deter SOCGs, that businesses are made aware of potential threats to allow them to protect themselves and subsequently be able to contribute in the wider fight against serious organised crime.

The event will offer Aberdeen City & Shire business owners and entrepreneurs a unique look into fighting crime against businesses.

The seminar will cover the background to serious business crime, while making local ventures aware of the kind of scams that businesses can be susceptible to. Speakers at the event will also give delegates advice on how they can protect themselves from this type of fraudulent activity.

Crimes against businesses can include everything from financial scams to theft of equipment and materials. But there are also new types of fraudulent behaviour against small enterprises that are becoming more common, particularly with so many businesses now online.

Anyone who owns or works for a business and is concerned about being the victim of corporate crime should book a place on the course and hear how they can protect themselves.
