Two promising Scottish basketball stars are ‘bouncing’ ahead of the competition thanks to the support of Aberdeen-based global operations personnel provider, GoreVega.
Sponsoring basketballscotland under 13 boys national development squad (NDS) player Lewis Davidson and under 11 boys NDS player Ross Grant, GoreVega is helping to ensure the two talented players ‘slam-dunk’ their way into a future in the sport, competing internationally.
Nathan Gore, managing director of GoreVega explains the investment: “We are absolutely delighted to lend our support to Lewis and Grant as they progress in the national development squad. The work of basketballscotland is pertinent to the future success of Scottish players in the sport, enabling opportunities for the players to compete with others from all around the world.
“Having originally come across basketballscotland through the Active Schools initiative, I was really impressed by their vision to engage children, such as my own, at grass roots level and nurture their skills right up to adulthood. We would like to take this opportunity to wish Ross and Grant the best of luck this season and the whole team at GoreVega will be cheering you on.”
Luis Romero, player development manager from basketballscotland, the governing body for basketball in Scotland, says: “Basketball is a fantastic sport for young people to get involved in at any level and ability of their choice. Thanks to companies such as GoreVega who lend their support, there are real opportunities out there for Scottish players to prosper. Our goal is to make basketball in Scotland world class through dedicated volunteers, clubs, coaches, officials and staff members. We are building on our already stellar performance system which is creating elite athletes – a success we are eager to progress further to the highest levels. The teamwork and dedication of every member of our community is contributing to our ‘Make it Happen’ system where every player has the opportunity to grow and prosper, irrelevant of their talent or social standing.”
GoreVega will be there to support basketballscotland players at the upcoming Summer Slam on 12-14 June 2015 in Stirling, as well as the Lord Taverner’s Wheelchair Celtic Cup, which takes place in Belfast on 21st and 22nd August 2015.
