Prestigious play award for Drum Castle

The National Trust for Scotland’s Drum Castle near Aberdeen scooped a major play award this autumn.

The conservation charity’s team at the historic Aberdeenshire estate took the Play in the Community (in a rural setting) at the Scotland’s Play Awards 2016.

The judges were very impressed with the involvement that young people had in the design and development of the popular rustic play area. The community connection went even further, with volunteers playing a key role in creating the landscape, planting and customising the play area.

Property manager Alison Burke said:

“This is a great accolade for Drum Castle and everyone who played a critical part in creating this special play area which is so popular with our young visitors.”

The play area is open all year round. For more information about Drum Castle’s opening hours and seasonal events programme, visit www.nts.org.uk.
