Energy industry specialist Pressure Test Solutions (PTS) is under new ownership after director Gary Notman completed a deal to take sole ownership of the firm.
With an existing 25% stake in the business, he has acquired the 75% holding of founder Fred Nicol as the management team prepares for the next stage of the company’s evolution. The sale marks the end of Mr Nicol’s involvement with the business as he hands over the reins.
Mr Notman joined PTS in 2013 as business development director, building on an oil and gas career spanning almost 20 years. After learning his trade as an apprentice engineer, subsequent roles included serving as general manager of RentAir Offshore and sales manager then group sales director of ATR Group.
PTS, established in 2007, is a major player in the rental, sale and calibration of pressure testing equipment. It has also diversified to include hazardous area equipment rental in addition to the supply of pumps, flushing units, hose reelers and hammer unions.
The new owner of the Aberdeen-based service company anticipates further growth as he builds on the foundations set over the past eight years.
Mr Notman said: “I am delighted to have completed the deal and thank Fred for the vital role he has played in the story of Pressure Test Solutions so far. This represents the next chapter and myself and the team look forward to the challenges ahead.
“When I first invested in PTS, the potential was clear. Since then I have seen at firsthand the expertise and knowledge within the business, both of which will be central to our plans for the future.
“In recent years there has been a significant commitment to expanding the PTS range, particularly with the move into the hazardous area sector, and our vision is to continue to innovate in line with customer demand. Our strength is in being able to react quickly to requirements, providing a reliable service to a very loyal client base.
“Reliable under pressure has become the phrase associated with the business and that certainly rings true. We pride ourselves on delivering a first class service matched to a growing and constantly updated inventory of equipment.”
PTS, based at Denmore Industrial Estate in Bridge of Don, employs eight people and in 2014 reported turnover in excess of £1.9million. Prominent in the North Sea market, the firm is also targeting overseas opportunities as part of the ongoing strategy. For further information visit www.pts-aberdeen.co.uk
