Former president Barack Obama is said to have told friends that President Joe Biden must seriously consider stepping down.
Obama is understood to have studied recent polling data that shows Mr Biden has a slim chance of beating his opponent, Donald Trump.
According to reports, Mr Obama has only spoken to the current president once since the first presidential debate against Trump.
Mr Biden's recent behavior during his campaign trail has been met with serious concern over his health and has since faced increased pressure to step down as the Democrat Party's White House nominee.
It's been reported that Barack Obama has been in discussion with top Democrat's, including Nancy Pelosi who is said to be orchestrating the moves to persuade Biden to stand down.
Last night, Donald Trump delivered his second convention speech since his recent assassination attempt last week. It's been reported the audience "could hear a pin drop" as Mr Trump spoke of the attempt of his life.
As for Joe Biden, his campaign trail has been halted due to testing positive for CV19.
