Joe Biden is said to have become more receptive to the idea of standing down in the presidential election.
US media reports said President Biden's is "willing to listen" to pleas for him to end his campaign.
The 81-year-old has faced continued pressure to step aside because of his age and concern over his health.
This increased pressure comes after Mr Biden tested positive for CV19 minutes before he was due to take the stage at a campaign speech in Las Vegas last night.
The President is said to be experiencing mild symptoms and has contracted CV19 twice before.
However, this recent illness has halted his campaign trail and prompted top Democrats to express their concern over his candidacy.
Reportedly, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries have told the President that he is likely to lose the election, following weeks of concern about his health.
Additionally, more than 20 sitting Democrats have publicly voiced their opinion about Mr Biden's age and chances of re-election.
A recent polling shows that Joe Biden is trailing behind Trump and performing worse with voters than his vice president, Kamala Harris.
With Biden more open to the idea of stepping down, it's reported he has asked how well Ms Harris would perform should she replace him.
