International legal firm Pinsent Masons is hosting a breakfast seminar at its Aberdeen office which delves into the critical topics of cyber risks and data technology trends that are shaping the energy sector.

Exploring Cyber Risks and Data Tech Trends in the Energy Sector on Thursday, 24 April, will be of interest to in-house counsel, chief operating officers, chief technology offices and data protection officers or others in data, digital and cyber specialist roles.

Pinsent Masons partners Stuart Davie and Chris Martin will discuss how digital solutions and data play an ever-more important role in the energy sector, and how technology and optimised use of data are enablers of both oil & gas and the energy transition.

Stuart Davey is an expert in cyber readiness, breach response, and litigation arising out of data breaches, while Chris Martin leads Pinsent Masons’ UK technology practice in the energy sector and advises on technology, media and telecommunications projects and the adoption of smart energy solutions and the creation of value from energy sector data.

Topics covered will include an overview of tech and data trends in the energy sector and key considerations for collecting, sharing and using data more effectively, including a case study based on our advice to an energy sector client on effective sharing of GIS and other data across its supply chain.

The continuing move into the cloud and trends in contracting for cloud and SaaS solutions and developing practice in AI contracting and good governance also feature, alongside growing cyber risk with the increased use of data and moves to digital solutions.

The seminar will also talk through Pinsent Masons’ recently launched 2025 Cyber Report with an analysis of the cyber issues encountered during the previous 12 months, and how those trends impact the energy sector.

The seminar at Pinsent Masons, 13 Queens Road, Aberdeen, takes place 8.00-9.30am on 24 April. If you would like to attend, please e-mail Karen Pottinger Karen.Pottinger@pinsentmasons.com
