An Aberdeen-based energy services firm has strengthened its management team with the promotion of a respected member of staff.

Ross Cochrane has been appointed regional director of global logistics specialist Petrasco to oversee its UK and North Sea operations.

Petrasco, part of Denholm Energy Services, is headquartered in Dyce and has additional operations in the major energy hubs of Dubai and Houston. The company is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2024.

The promotion – a third in six years for Ross – follows the retirement of Stuart Webster after 40 years working in the logistics sector. Stuart joined the team in 2015 to lead the Aberdeen office, latterly as regional director.

Ross will now work closely alongside international colleagues as part of a recent management restructuring which saw Alan Green and Chris Milne appointed regional directors for the Middle East and Americas respectively.

Reporting directly to managing director Kevin Buchan, the trio will support the board in strategic planning and lead senior management in day-to-day operations.

Commenting on the new appointment, managing director Kevin Buchan said: “Ross has proven himself to be a great asset ever since joining the company and this promotion is well deserved recognition for his hard work and dedication.

"This new role will allow him to play an even more important role in supporting new and existing clients at what is a very exciting time for the company as we look to the future following our half-centenary celebrations.

“Ross is a fantastic example of the opportunities available for career progression within Petrasco. Similar to the rest of the senior management team, Ross has gained significant experience across all aspects of the business and worked his way up.

“This gives our younger colleagues confidence that there is a clear career path for them and that the company is invested in helping them achieving their goals by creating a rewarding working environment.”

Ross began his career with Petrasco in 2013 before progressing to client solutions manager. After completing a business management degree at Robert Gordon University, he was then promoted to commercial manager in 2021 to oversee the UK commercial function.

Since then, he has further developed his industry knowledge across all aspects of Petrasco’s service offering, while managing key accounts and spending time in both the Middle East and the USA to develop global business opportunities.

In addition, Ross has played a key role in digitalising the business through implementation of new processes, systems and software to better service customers’ requirements.

Ross said: “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time with Petrasco and I’m grateful to have been given the opportunity to take on this important role where I can continue to play a vital part in the company’s long-term success.

“With the support of our talented colleagues and the rest of the management team, I’m confident we can take advantage of the company’s undoubted potential to become the logistics partner of choice for the energy industry as well as leverage our decades of experience to help clients navigate emerging markets and the transition to the low-carbon economy.”
