One person has been injured and a street was cordoned off after a spillage of “potentially hazardous materials” in Aberdeen yesterday.

The casualty was handed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service as a result of the incident on South Esplanade Street in the Torry area of the city.

The street has been cordoned off, with three fire appliances and specialist hazmat (hazardous materials) resources were mobilised to the scene.

Police said there is no threat to the wider public with the spillage being in a confined area.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Emergency services attended South Esplanade East, Aberdeen on Thursday, 22 August, 2024, where a substance had spilled on the ground.

“The spillage was within a confined area and there was no threat to the wider public. The spillage has been cleared.”
