Former world, Commonwealth and European champion swimmer, Hannah Duff (nee Miley) is marking a year to the day her daughter Nula was first supported by NHS Grampian’s Neonatal Unit by launching a 3D walk-through of the facility produced by her husband, Euan.

Euan Duff has created the virtual tour voluntarily on behalf of the Neonatal Unit, to help prospective parents see what the facilities are like and what to expect from being supported by the specialist team.

He explained: “Spending almost six weeks in the Neonatal Unit, the staff and other parents around us became like extended family. They were so good to us and I’m really pleased to be able to give back. We still drop in from time to time and we were really pleased to help when nurse manager Nicole asked if we could help create the virtual tour. We hope it helps other parents.”

The virtual tour is available to view on the health board’s Birth in Grampian website: Neonatal Unit – Birth in Grampian

Hannah added: “We are lucky to have an amazing neonatal team in Aberdeen and we can’t thank them enough for everything they did for our family. It wasn’t an easy time but they made us feel welcome, helped us through the most difficult moments and basically gave us a crash course in parenting! I can’t believe Nula is one and we are looking forward to bringing our neonatal family together again to celebrate. This feels like the icing on the cake and a great way to recognise the team who helped us.”

NHS Grampian’s Neonatal Unit nurse manager Nicole Bauwens commented: “We always look forward to visits from Team Duff and we’re so pleased with how the virtual tour has turned out. It is a huge privilege to support babies and families, and we hope this helps others get to know us too. Watch this space as Euan has lots of ideas about how we can help and support future families.”
