Today (10 July 2015), Oil & Gas UK launches its quest to find the most inspirational people and outstanding companies in the offshore oil and gas industry by opening the nominations for the leading trade association’s ninth annual awards evening.
The Oil & Gas UK Awards 2015, sponsored by Shell U.K. Limited, will take place at Aberdeen’s Exhibition and Conference Centre on Thursday 5 November. Nominations close on August 14.
Oil & Gas UK’s chief executive, Deirdre Michie, commented:
“I’m delighted to announce the nominations for our ninth Annual Awards open today. Whilst industry is facing a tough challenge to improve its efficiency and adjust to a world of $60 oil, it remains important to recognise individual achievement and share stories of the exceptional work taking place in this industry.”
Last year, Oil & Gas UK changed the structure of its awards categories. The two company awards -the Oil & Gas UK Award for Investment in People and the Oil & Gas UK Award for Business Innovation – were split into two categories for large and smaller companies to ensure companies of all shapes and sizes, across the supply chain, were encouraged to share their achievements. That change was very well received last year, so the awards will be similarly structured this year.
Deirdre Michie added:
“With over 20 billion barrels of oil and gas still to play for, there’s plenty of opportunity to secure an indigenous supply for the country. The UK continental shelf might be one of the smaller players in terms of global production volumes, but I strongly believe our technical expertise and the talent of our people is unsurpassed – that is what our awards set out to champion.
“We’ve tailored our awards to try to capture examples of excellence right across our supply chain. I personally look forward to hearing contributions from companies and individuals right across the country on the night.”
