As thousands of people descend on Aberdeen for Europe’s largest oil exhibition, Murcar Links Golf Club is offering delegates from the city and overseas the chance to take a break and escape to the city’s rugged coastline to perfect their swing at one of the country’s top golf courses.
From 7 - 11 September, anyone with an Offshore Europe delegate pass will be entitled to a special discounted rate of £80 to hire clubs and play a full round at Murcar Links Golf Club, located only a mile from the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre.
The 18-hole, par 71 links course has seen its profile raised significantly in recent months after hosting the inaugural Saltire Energy Paul Lawrie Matchplay tournament, a European Tour event and part of the Race To Dubai.
Malcolm Gunnyeon, club captain at Murcar Links, said: “Offshore Europe gives us a perfect opportunity to showcase what Murcar Links has to offer to people who have travelled to Aberdeen from across the globe. The course is ideal for those looking to test their skills on a true Scottish links course, with towering sand dunes, rolling fairways and magnificent views across the North Sea. It’s a great chance for people to see what Aberdeen and Scotland has to offer and experience first-hand what a unique and special golf club we are part of.”
Established in 1909, Murcar frequently features in the Top 100 courses in the UK and the VisitScotland Top 40 Great Scottish Links Collection. It is a regular host of big tournaments; as well as the recent European Tour matchplay event, the club has also hosted the Paul Lawrie Golf Centre Northern Open (July 2014) and was home to the European Boys Team Championship (July 2013).
Malcolm added: “Only recently we have seen some of the best players in the world play at Murcar and the feedback we received from them, from commentators, media and fans of the game was first class. We always offer a warm welcome and are more than happy to open the doors and invite the golf enthusiasts from Offshore Europe to take a break from the show for a few hours and appreciate the Aberdeenshire scenery as they hone their swing.”
