OEG, a leading energy solutions business, has a team of 21 runners taking on the Edinburgh half marathon to raise funds for Clan Cancer Support.
The group includes runners, ranging from complete beginners to experienced runners, from OEG facilities in Kintore, Dyce and Portlethen all coming together to support the north of Scotland charity.
Clan is the longest standing commercially independent cancer support charity in the North-east of Scotland, with all services sustained entirely by fundraising.
The charity provides free physical and emotional support for people of all ages and with all types of cancers from its network of wellbeing centres across the North-east, Moray, Orkney and Shetland.
OEG aims to support its team every step of the way, by providing logistical assistance, including travel to and from Edinburgh, hotel accommodation and entry fees, leaving the runners to focus on training and fundraising efforts.
‘Team OEG’ is already making great strides in its fundraising efforts, having raised 64% of its £2,100 target, with hopes of exceeding this goal by event day on Sunday, May 25.
In a heartfelt message to the runners, Clive Hoskisson, OEG’s managing director, UK, said: “OEG received an overwhelming response from our UK employees. Our runners are taking on a considerable challenge, particularly those participating in their first half marathon, and will be achieving personal milestones as well as supporting a worthy cause. With every step, Team OEG is taking positive action in their commitment to making a difference and we couldn’t be more proud.”
Each participant is embracing the opportunity to push their limits, improve their fitness and experience the incredible sense of accomplishment that comes with crossing the finish line.
Ross Sangster, Clan’s community liaison officer, said: “We’d like to thank the OEG team for pulling on their running shoes and taking on the Edinburgh half marathon for Clan. We rely on all kinds of fundraising to support our vital services, and we are incredibly grateful to OEG for taking on this challenge. We wish them every success on the day.”
