VisitAberdeenshire is pleased to announce the welcome return of the celebrated North-east Tourism Conference in association with Loganair, taking place at P&J Live on Tuesday, November 19.
Hosted by BBC Scotland's Fiona Stalker, the conference will bring the tourism sector together to explore current trends, themes and how tourism can drive regional economic growth in 2025 and beyond. This year's conference focuses on three themes: ‘Our Visitors,’ ‘Our People and Businesses,’ and ‘Our Place.’
Internationally renowned solo percussionist and double GRAMMY award winner Dame Evelyn Glennie will share her unique perspective on the importance of a listening culture in tourism, and what small steps businesses can implement to ensure a fully inclusive welcome for all. She is also Robert Gordon University’s Chancellor and is passionate about her native North-east.
Donna McHugh, Head of Revenue and Sales at Loganair will share expert insight into what inbound demand we can expect to see and what visitors are looking for in their visit to Scotland and the North-east.
Raymond McErlaine, Sales Manager, Scotland/Northern England, Loganair, said: “As the biggest operator at Aberdeen International Airport, we are committed to supporting tourism across the North-east of Scotland and ensuring visitors have the best possible experience in the region. With whisky, golf, castles, culture and stunning scenery, the region offers a diverse range of vibrant attractions for visitors to enjoy.”
Other speakers include Rebecca Brooks, Managing Director of Abbey UK and UKinbound Chair, Duncan Stewart, Managing Partner at 56 Degree Insight and Vicki Miller, VisitScotland’s Director of Marketing & Digital, and incoming Chief Executive Officer. In discussion with Fiona Stalker, Vicki will share her thoughts about what is driving visitor demand for our country beyond the traditional view of Scotland.
Vicki Miller, VisitScotland’s Director of Marketing & Digital, and incoming Chief Executive Officer, said: "I’m thrilled to be returning to P&J Live, the most sustainable venue of its type in the UK, for the North East Tourism Conference.
“This stunning corner of Scotland encapsulates the very essence of what today’s visitors seek – immersive, enriching experiences that leave a lasting impression. Our focus on regional spread ensures that every corner of Scotland can share in the success of our thriving tourism industry. We want people to visit all year, stay longer, spend more, and immerse themselves in the places they visit.
“Through our ongoing work with VisitAberdeenshire and other regional partners, we aim to drive the visitor economy and grow the value of tourism in this fantastic region. This not only helps create jobs and support communities but also make it a must-visit, must-return destination all year round.”
The ‘Our Place’ segment of the conference programme will feature a panel discussion around Tall Ships 2025 in Aberdeen, highlighting the festival's potential economic impact and opportunities for local businesses.
Breakout sessions will focus on various themes including the business events sector, featuring VisitAberdeenshire’s Head of Convention Bureau Laura Wilson and ASM Global’s Steve Daun, as well as a focus on adventure tourism’s bright future.
