David Duguid MP has reaffirmed his intention to stand for election in July despite a serious illness which saw him in intensive care for four weeks at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (ARI).
The Banff and Buchan MP is standing to represent the new constituency of Aberdeenshire North and Moray East, which runs from Spey Bay in the west to Cruden Bay on the North-east coast.
Posting on the social media sit X, Mr Duguid said he'd been in hospital since April 11.
He said: "Having spent 4 weeks in the Intensive Care Unit in ARI being treated for an illness affecting my spine (during which time I acquired pneumonia) I am now in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Glasgow to complete my recovery.
"The snap election announcement has come as a surprise but it is my intention to stand again for Parliament and if elected I will continue to serve you all with the same commitment and dedication as always.
"In the meantime I would like to thank the elected colleagues who have stood in for me as required. And a very huge thank you to my office team who have ensured and will continue to ensure that it is business as usual in the service of the constituency."
A number of cross-party politicians have wished Mr Duguid well on his recovery ahead of the election in six weeks.
The only other candidates confirmed to be standing in the Aberdeenshire North and Moray East seat thus far are the SNP's Seamus Logan and Labour's Andrew Brown.
