North-east charity announces key appointment

A well-known charity which supports adults with learning disabilities and additional support needs in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Moray and Angus has announced a key appointment.

Lynne Robertson has joined the charity in the role of director of corporate services, with a wide-ranging remit which encompasses finance, business support, IT, property and facilities management.

Aberdonian Lynne is a former chartered accountant who has extensive business experience, including time spent living and working in London and Glasgow. She trained with Ernst & Young and worked with a range of clients including entrepreneurial companies, charities and public sector bodies. Lynne also worked in learning and development and managed the organisation’s ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ programme.

Lynne also has more than 12 years’ experience in the social care sector, having previously worked for a leading Scottish charity. She has also been a non-executive director for Social Investment Scotland and is currently an external member of their capital and finance committee.

Commenting on her new role, Lynne Robertson said: “I am really looking forward to getting started with Inspire and playing my part in the great work the organisation carries out.”

Inspire chief executive Linda Gray added: “We are excited to welcome Lynne on board during a year of celebrations to mark our 30th anniversary year. The extensive expertise she brings will ensure that we continue to have robust financial systems and practices in place that reflect the current sector and organisation.”

Inspire started life as Partnership Housing in 1988 then became Partnership before adopting its current name in 2006. Service provision began in 1990 when three people moved from Aberdeen’s Woodlands Hospital into their new home in the city’s Fonthill Terrace – nowadays more than 300 adults are supported thanks to a range of initiatives in Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire, Moray and Angus.

Most recently, Inspire has significantly increased its presence in Aberdeen City by becoming the provider for established services at Manor Walk and Donald Dewar Court, and has expanded outwith its traditional area to support individuals in Angus for the first time.
