Korero, an Aberdeen-based public relations consultancy, has marked its first year in business with the launch of a new initiative to address what it sees as a major knowledge-gap among small businesses.
More than 3,500 new businesses have launched in the North-east of Scotland alone in the last year*. Despite public relations and marketing being a key success factor, many new and smaller business struggle to afford traditional PR support.
Korero’s Hands Up For Business package enables organisations to scale their support depending on budget and need. The agency hopes to give businesses owners the skills and help they need to build a sustainable, cost-effective communications programme that attracts customers and helps them grow.
Alison Ellis, Korero’s director, said: “We often hear from business owners who have great, products and services but they struggle to know the best way to tell people about them.
“As we celebrate our first anniversary, we want to do something that will help businesses who share our growth ambition. The Hands Up For Business initiative will do just that. It offers an alternative to the traditional PR model by providing flexible, affordable support that equips business owners with the skills and knowledge they need to engage with their customers across all touch points.”
The Hands Up For Business package offers a mix of services from one-off brand-building plans to the development and implementation of a detailed six-month communications strategy. A series of workshops will also take place in Aberdeen, Dundee and Perth.
Alison launched Korero in October 2014 following a 15-year career working at a senior level as a journalist, with international PR agencies and in-house for an oil and gas operator. As a result, the consultancy offers big agency know-how and corporate insights at a competitive rate.
As an additional anniversary gift and to mark the launch of the initiative, Korero is giving a non-profit organisation the chance to win a six-month, fully-implemented communications programme and the creation of detailed six-month communications strategy for a small business.
To enter, organisations need to answer the question: ‘What’s your story?’ in 140 characters or less and either tweet it to @Korero_PR using #HandsUp or email it to handsup@korero.co.uk. They can also enter via Korero’s LinkedIn or Facebook page. The closing date for entrants is: December 21, 2015.
