NMC Energy is pleased to announce the appointment of Craig McKenzie to their Aberdeen-based team as principal piping engineer / senior project engineer.
Craig is currently on secondment to a major North Sea operator, where he plays a key role in the decommissioning of two of their assets. He serves as an engineering focal point for the planning and execution of Engineering Down and Cleaning (EDC) activities on both assets, ensuring systems are safely prepared ahead of platform disembarkation and handover to the removals contractor. He is now continuing this work with NMC Energy, in a role that blends technical leadership with strategic delivery.
Craig brings with him a wealth of experience in both engineering and the decommissioning sector, having most recently worked with Nexos in a similar role. Prior to that, he spent over 15 years with Aker Solutions, where he began his career as a trainee piping designer before progressing into engineering roles.

His first introduction to decommissioning came while supporting the Murchison platform decommissioning project in a design role, later taking on engineering responsibilities for the Ninian North decommissioning campaign.
Craig recently completed an MSc in Decommissioning at the University of Aberdeen and is committed to helping shape the future of the sector.
MD Konstantin Nazaruk said, “We’re thrilled to welcome Craig to the team. His in-depth knowledge, hands-on experience with Heather and Thistle, and solutions-driven approach bring immediate value to both NMC and our clients. His appointment reinforces our commitment to providing specialist expertise and reliable delivery across our decommissioning projects.”
Craig said: "I’m excited to be joining a company with such a clear focus on decommissioning. NMC’s vision aligns closely with my own, and I’m looking forward to contributing to the team’s continued growth and success as we take on some of the industry’s most complex challenges."
