Born prematurely with a form of cerebral palsy affecting his leg muscles, Nicolas was wheelchair bound as a child and his parents were told he would never be able to walk.

In spite of this, Nicolas was driven to emulate the success of his brother Lewis and overcame the first of many obstacles by pushing himself gradually to become less reliant on his wheelchair and regain the use of his legs, which he achieved by the age of 17.

He has since gone on to realise his dream of becoming a racing driver and has demonstrated his potential and determination to the world, having won a seat in both the Renault Clio Cup and the European Touring Car Cup by his present age of 23.

Membership director at the Chamber Liam Smyth is confident Nicolas’ story will inspire delegates.

“In the first of our enduringly popular Business Breakfast series in 2016 we’ll hear about Nicolas’ triumph in overcoming the challenges he faces from his condition,” he said.

“It’s an incredible story of success against the odds.

“There is no doubt that 2016 will be another challenging year for the region, and we hope that businesses in the North-east will take inspiration from his achievements.”

Nicolas will share his unique story on January 21 at the Marcliffe Hotel & Spa. For more information, visit www.agcc.co.uk/networking-events
