Nick Nairn joins Press and Journal Energy Ball

The annual Press and Journal Energy Ball returns on Saturday, October 3 and promises to be more glamorous and better than ever.

The event, celebrating the successes and bright future of the oil and gas sector in the North of Scotland - 50 years after oil first started pumping out of the North Sea, is taking place at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre.

Top celebrity chef Nick Nairn has joined the star studded line-up and will be adding his personal stamp to the dishes at the high-profile extravaganza. In collaboration with the team at the AECC, the Michelin-star chef will be preparing a banquet for what is the biggest sit-down dinner in Scotland with 1400 guests.

Stirling-born Nick said he was very impressed with the quality of the food last year and is delighted to be working with the venue’s executive chef, Brian Macdonald. “The food was fantastic last year. We haven’t made a great deal of changes, but we have added our own unique stamp to the food.”

The Press and Journal Editor-in-Chief Damian Bates said “A prestigious event like this deserves the kind of specialist banquet Nick and the team at the venue are conjuring up. To have a Michelin-star chef work on what is going to be a fantastic menu highlights that this is an occasion not to be missed.”

The event commits to continue celebrating the successes and bright future of the oil and gas sector. Nick will be a guest among some of the region’s biggest names, and a host of other surprises will be revealed in the coming weeks while a strong gold theme will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the industry in the North of Scotland.

This year, the event is going to be more exclusive than ever before and for the first time in Scotland, The Swan Band is travelling direct from France to perform throughout the night. Favoured by a host of celebrities to perform at their weddings and chosen by Kenny Dalglish to star at his private charity party, this amazing 14-strong band will offer Aberdeen something that’s never been seen in the city before.

The Press and Journal Energy Ball will take place on Saturday, October 3 at the AECC. For more information visit www.energyball.co.uk.
