NHS Grampian is to receive a £67million loan from the Scottish government to help it deal with rising costs.
The development takes the total amount loaned to NHS Grampian to £92.2million, the BBC reports, with there being an existing government loan for the 2023/24 financial year.
The health board said there were "many factors" in its financial situation, including rising staff and running costs, and a rising numbers of people aged over 65 as well as those under 17.
NHS Grampian managed to make over £46million on savings up to February this year, but was still lft with an overspend.
A review commissioned by ministers is currently evaluating the the financial position of NHS Grampian.
It is expected to conclude next month and identify areas for additional savings.
It comes as NHS Scotland staff are being offered an 8% pay rise over two years.
The raise, set out by health secretary Neil Gray, consists of a 4.25% increase in 2025-26 and 3.75% the following year.
