Topsides UK, Europe’s first and only oil and gas conference and exhibition focusing solely on topsides operations, today announces Petrofac as the conference partner for the event which takes place March 16-17 2016.
Delegates at the two-day conference, which will be opened by the Lord Provost of the City of Aberdeen and followed by a keynote speech by Gunther Newcombe, E&P Director, Oil and Gas Authority, shall hear from operators, tier one contractors and the extended topsides supply chain, sessions will be presented on late life extension projects, the application of new technology, changed behaviours and contracting philosophies where these have already led to enhanced production, increased productivity and lowered operating costs of mature platform installations.
In addition to Petrofac, companies already lending their support to the event include Apache, Dräger, Enquest, Kongsberg, Maersk Oil and Amec Foster Wheeler.
Commenting on the recent partnership, Walter Thain, Managing Director Petrofac Production and Engineering Services said: “We’re pleased to partner with Topsides UK and be part of an important platform aimed at driving collaborative conversations between operators, major contractors and the supply chain. We all have a part to play in thinking differently, finding new ways to drive efficiencies and generate maximum value across operations to further extend the life of assets and secure the sustainable future of the UKCS.
“This inaugural event will also give us the opportunity to articulate our enhanced service capabilities. This follows the integration of our UK services into our Production and Engineering Services business, creating a more efficient and delivery-focused approach that will enable us to remain responsive to the industry environment and our customers’ needs.”
The conference dovetails the Topsides UK exhibition, partnered by safety and medical technology firm Dräger, which will itself see over 100 elevator pitches from the supply chain demonstrating efficient practises, a breakfast event with networking partner Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce, who are also hosting a networking and introductions area, and over 60 topsides exhibitors, each bringing their own knowledge and experience to the event, and showcasing innovative, cost-efficient solutions and cooperative ways to work together.
Gavin Esslemont, Director of Topsides UK comments, “We started planning Topsides UK back in 2014 when the oil price was well over $100 but whilst there was already recognition that the industry was not sustainable in the longer term unless efficiencies were improved and the cost of operating was much reduced. The supply chain is key to the changes required so seeing so many companies lending their support to Topsides UK and keen to demonstrate the actions they have already taken to address some of the industry challenges is testament to the good progress that has already been made within the industry. We are delighted that Petrofac has added its support to this event and we look forward to working closely over the coming months.”
Topsides UK is hosting a launch event with networking partner Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce at the Chamber’s Bridge of Don offices on Wednesday, February 10, 6pm – 7.30pm. Attendees can network with other topsides-related industry leaders whilst sharing creative ways to operate differently.
