Road safety partners across the North- east of Scotland will promote safety advice and information from a new Twitter account.
Road Safety North East Scotland (RSNES) will share information relevant to the local authority areas managed by Aberdeen City Council, Aberdeenshire Council and Moray Council.
The partners are drawn from the organisations jointly delivering the North East Scotland Road Casualty Reduction Strategy.
In addition to the three councils, RSNES includes: Nestrans, NHS Grampian, the North Safety Camera Unit, Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.
The intention is to share and promote general road safety information and advice beneficial to local road users, which may impact on road safety.
It will also share statistical information about casualty trends in the North-east, national and local road safety initiatives or campaigns operated by the partners, as well as seasonal road safety guidance.
Information on the new social media account will mainly focus on the three national road casualty reduction-related Priority Focus Areas, which are: speed, age, and vulnerable road users.
Road casualty reduction strategy coordinator, Ian Wallace, said: “All of the partners have popular social media accounts of their own and there is clearly a demand, as well as a need for this kind of information.
“This account will bring together some of that information with a focus on the local area and the intention is that it becomes a useful place for anyone interested in road safety in the North-east, helping to promote safer roads for all road users.”
